Mid-Session: Sensex, Nifty in red amid volatility; IndusInd Bank, ONGC top losers

Indian markets continued to trade in red during the noon trading session in the volatile trade amid selling in index heavyweights including IndusInd Bank Ltd., Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. , Bharti Airtel Ltd. , Axis Bank Ltd. and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. among others.



At 12:45 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 37926.51 down by -55.12 points or by -0.15 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11208.6 down by -18.95 points or by -0.17 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 38235.94 and intraday low of 37831.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 11305.4 and intraday low of 11181.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 2490.75,+2.70%), Titan Company Ltd. (Rs. 1156.70,+1.54%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 364.05,+0.86%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2232.70,+0.76%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 1694.25,+0.70%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 532.55,-4.04%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 69.20,-3.76%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 431.10,-2.77%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 427.20,-2.72%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 164.55,-2.11%), among others.



Among the sectors, Metal index was at 8367.3 up by 51.13 points or by 0.61%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 173.95,+3.76%), Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 212.75,+1.48%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 364.45,+0.97%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 140.10,+0.76%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 277.40,+0.11%),.



_PSU index was at 4588.23 down by -72.9 points or by -1.56%. Bank of Baroda (Rs. 41.10,-5.19%), Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (Rs. 30.40,-4.40%), Punjab National Bank (Rs. 28.95,-3.98%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 69.15,-3.82%), Canara Bank (Rs. 88.30,-3.02%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 2675 , shares advanced were 1051 while 1467 shares declined and 157 were unchanged.
