Indices drop on subdued global cues; breadth weak

Domestic bourses continued to hover in red during the morning deals on selling pressure in index pivotals. Negative global cues dampened investors sentiment.



Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) sold shares worth Rs 2,823.96 crore, while domestic institutional investors (DIIs), were net buyers to the tune of Rs 3,504.76 crore in the Indian equity market on 27 September, provisional data showed.



Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)'s six-member Monetary Policy Committee meeting will begin today, 28 September 2022. RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das will announce the MPC decision on 30 September 2022, the last date of the meeting. The RBI is widely expected to maintain the balancing act between growth and inflation.



At 10:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 56894.28 down by -213.24 points or by -0.37 % and then NSE Nifty was at 16950.5 down by -56.9 points or by -0.33 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 57017.26 and intraday low of 56498.72 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 16976.9 and intraday low of 16825.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 915.35,+2.06%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1256.35,+1.67%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 4234.05,+1.24%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3493.75,+0.67%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 205.80,+0.44%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 329.35,-1.64%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 726.05,-1.53%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 156.85,-1.41%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 2258.75,-1.37%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 2363.20,-1.34%), among others.



Auto index was at 28956.6 up by 186.53 points or by 0.65%. Tube Investments of India Ltd. (Rs. 2660.90,+3.25%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 556.55,+2.80%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1256.35,+1.67%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 3607.00,+1.00%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 402.50,+0.93%),.

Metal index was at 17537.22 down by -158.63 points or by -0.9%. Coal India Ltd. (Rs. 210.30,-1.64%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 626.65,-1.63%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 68.20,-1.16%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 259.55,-1.03%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 370.50,-0.82%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3312 , shares advanced were 1552 while 1587 shares declined and 173 were unchanged.
