Pre-Session: SGX Nifty signals tepid start; TaMo, Airtel, TVS Motor eyed

It will likely be a volatile session on the bourses on Wednesday as the monthly F&O expiry for January derivatives contracts will keep investors occupied.



As per rollover data, the Nifty index has, so far, witnessed rollover in-line with the last three months' averages. However, slight declines in roll cost indicates a capped upside.



That apart, Q3 earnings will lead to stock-specific action today. Over 70 companies are slated to report their December quarter results today, including prominent ones like Bajaj Auto, Cipla, Dr Reddy's Labs, DLF, and Tata Motors.



Analysts expect Tata Motors to see improved financial performance, at the consolidated level, during Q3FY23 on volume recovery and product mix improvement. Nuvama Institutional Equities, for instance, pegs TaMo's consolidated revenue at Rs 83,848 crore, up 16 per cent year-on-year.



On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 60978.75 up by 37.08 points or by 0.06 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18118.3 down by -0.25 points or by 0 %.

On the global front, The S&P 500 ended nominally lower on Tuesday at the close of a rocky session marked by a raft of mixed earnings and a technical malfunction at the opening bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 104.4 points, or 0.31 percent, to 33,733.96, the S&P 500 lost 2.86 points, or 0.07 percent, to 4,016.95 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 30.14 points, or 0.27 percent, to 11,334.27.

Asia-Pacific shares traded mixed on Wednesday, taking the lead from Wall Street’s struggle for direction as China and Hong Kong markets remain closed for the Lunar New Year holidays.



In South Korea, the Kospi climbed 1.3 percent, while the Kosdaq climbed 1.16 percent in its first hour of trade. Japan’s Nikkei 225 dipped 0.22 percent and the Topix shed 0.06 percent. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 declined 0.43 percent as investors await the release of the country’s inflation reading

Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 5814.34 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 144.75 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 5590.11 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 113.72 Crore.
