Indices at day's high; metal, financials in focus

Domestic bourses continued to trade higher during the late morning deals tracking gains across global markets. Traders may take note of the state minister statement that India currently has the fourth largest foreign exchange reserves in the world.



Further Market participants may be concerned with the report that two more cases of the Omicron variant were detected on Monday.



At 10:55 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 57492.95 up by 745.81 points or by 1.31 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17145.05 up by 232.8 points or by 1.38 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 57605.93 and intraday low of 56992.27 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 17149.5 and intraday low of 16987.75



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1939.60,+2.83%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 727.70,+2.49%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 679.75,+2.48%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1133.80,+2.23%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7097.50,+2.06%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3024.70,-0.44%), Bharti Airtel Ltd. (Rs. 695.00,-0.30%), Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (Rs. 4495.00,-0.19%), among others.



Metal index was at 19096.5 up by 432.69 points or by 2.32%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 436.45,+3.58%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 106.55,+3.55%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 365.85,+2.55%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1133.80,+2.23%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 656.80,+2.19%),.



HCS index was at 24728.17 down by 24.66 points or by 0.1%. Panacea Biotec Ltd. (Rs. 201.35,-4.98%), Metropolis Healthcare Ltd. (Rs. 3103.10,-4.74%), Max Healthcare Institute Ltd. (Rs. 364.40,-3.06%), Strides Pharma Science Ltd. (Rs. 463.60,-2.08%), Kopran Ltd. (Rs. 269.90,-1.73%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3272 , shares advanced were 2315 while 820 shares declined and 137 were unchanged.
