Post-Session: Stock markets decline for 4th day on weak global trends

Benchmark stock indices Sensex and Nifty ended lower for the fourth straight session on Thursday, weighed down by muted global cues and lingering uncertainty over a potential trade deal with the US.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 84481.81 down by -77.84 points or by -0.09 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25815.55 down by -3 points or by -0.01 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 84780.19 and intraday low of 84238.43 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25902.35 and intraday low of 25726.3



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3280.10,+1.94%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1605.00,+1.72%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1626.35,+1.51%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1230.55,+0.48%), HCL Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1661.70,+0.44%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1746.00,-2.74%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 168.15,-1.26%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 258.00,-1.15%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2760.60,-0.89%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 318.60,-0.82%), among others.



IT index was at 37263.85 up by 404.21 points or by 1.1%. AXISCADES Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 1250.00,+4.21%), Genesys International Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 428.25,+3.89%), InfoBeans Technologies Ltd. (Rs. 760.70,+2.94%), Black Box Ltd. (Rs. 512.50,+2.77%), Tanla Platforms Ltd. (Rs. 564.25,+2.27%),



Power index was at 6373.15 down by -65.23 points or by -1.01%. Siemens Ltd. (Rs. 3081.50,-1.87%), Torrent Power Ltd. (Rs. 1251.30,-1.68%), ABB India Ltd. (Rs. 5092.00,-1.42%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 141.30,-1.29%), CG Power and Industrial Solutions Ltd. (Rs. 661.80,-1.16%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4515 , shares advanced were 1722 while 2577 shares declined and 216 were unchanged.
