JSW Energy Commissions 281 MW Renewable Capacity, Inks PPA for 250 MW Wind Project

JSW Energy Limited has successfully commissioned 281 MW of organic renewable energy capacity, comprising 215 MW of solar and 66 MW of wind projects. With this addition, the company's total installed capacity has risen to 12,499 MW. The timely commissioning positions the company to benefit from the current peak wind season, significantly enhancing its renewable energy output.

Following the latest addition, JSW Energy’s installed renewable mix now includes 3,482 MW of wind, 1,968 MW of solar, and 1,391 MW of hydro capacity. This brings the share of renewables in the company’s overall portfolio to 55%.

Additionally, JSW Renew Energy Three Limited, a step-down subsidiary of JSW Energy, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited for a 250 MW wind power project connected to the state transmission utility (STU) network. The PPA, valid for 25 years, is priced at ?3.65 per unit, and the project—located in Maharashtra—is expected to be commissioned within the next two years.

Overall, JSW Energy has a locked-in generation portfolio of 29.9 GW, which includes 12.5 GW of operational capacity, 12.4 GW under construction across wind, thermal, and hydro segments, and an additional pipeline of 4.9 GW. The company also holds 29.3 GWh of committed energy storage capacity through 26.4 GWh of hydro pumped storage and 2.9 GWh of battery energy storage systems.

Aligned with its Strategy 3.0 growth roadmap, JSW Energy is targeting 30 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage by FY 2030, as part of its broader commitment to India’s energy transition. The company has also pledged to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
