GE Shipping to acquire Secondhand Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier

The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited has contracted to acquire a secondhand Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier of about 81,094 deadweight tonnage (dwt) on March 4, 2026.

The vessel, built in Japan in 2014, is expected to join the company’s fleet by the first quarter of FY27. The acquisition will be financed entirely through internal accruals and is aimed at expanding the company’s fleet.

Following this addition, the company’s owned fleet currently stands at 41 vessels, including 27 tankers—comprising five crude tankers, 17 product tankers and five LPG carriers—and 14 dry bulk carriers consisting of two Capesize, nine Kamsarmax, one Ultramax and two Supramax vessels. The total fleet capacity aggregates 3.25 million dwt, with current capacity utilisation close to 100 per cent.

Separately, the company has also contracted to sell one Very Large Gas Carrier (VLGC), “Jag Vishnu”, with the transaction expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of FY26.
