Lead futures melts 0.63% on global trend

Due to the decline in the cues from the overseas markets, the prices of lead for the January contract fell by 70, or 0.63 per cent, to Rs 109.60 per kg, with a business turnover of 88 lots at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX).

The metal for the December contract also shed 65 paise, or 0.55 per cent to Rs 108.60 per kg, with a trade volume of 1,435 lots at the MCX.

The metal for the February contract was also down by 35 paise, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 110.30 per kg in a turnover of three lots at the MCX.

Moreover, the decline in the demand at the local spot markets from the battery makers also influenced the prices of the metal.

Lead is a main-group element with symbol Pb and atomic number 82. Lead is a soft, malleable poor metal. It is also counted as one of the heavy metals.

Metallic lead has a bluish-white color after being freshly cut, but it soon tarnishes to a dull grayish color when exposed to air. Lead has a shiny chrome-silver luster when it is melted into a liquid.
