Piyush Goyal flags off 100 mobile vans for the sale of Bharat Atta

Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Textiles and Commerce and Industry, Shri Piyush Goyal, officially launched 100 mobile vans for the sale of wheat flour (Atta) under the 'Bharat' brand in New Delhi today. The Atta will be sold at a maximum retail price (MRP) of ?27.50 per kilogram. This initiative represents the most recent in a series of actions taken by the Government of India to benefit everyday consumers. The introduction of retail sales of 'Bharat' brand Atta will enhance the availability of this essential food item in the market at affordable prices, contributing to the ongoing control of its costs.

'Bharat' Atta will be accessible at all physical and mobile outlets of Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED, and NCCF starting today, and the availability will be extended to other cooperative and retail stores.

A quantity of 2.5 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of wheat, procured at a rate of Rs. 21.50 per kilogram, has been allotted for Semi-Government and cooperative organizations, specifically Kendriya Bhandar, NCCF, and NAFED, under the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS D). This wheat will be converted into Atta and offered for sale to the public under the 'Bharat Atta' brand, with an MRP not exceeding ?27.50 per kilogram.

During the event, Shri Goyal mentioned that the government's interventions have effectively stabilized the prices of essential commodities. He highlighted previous measures taken to control the prices of items like tomatoes and onions. Furthermore, the government is making 'Bharat Dal' available at the rate of Rs. 60 per kilogram through Kendriya Bhandar, NAFED, and NCCF to alleviate the burden on consumers.

Shri Goyal emphasized that these initiatives have also significantly benefited farmers. The government is purchasing produce from farmers and then providing it to consumers at subsidized rates. He stressed that the government's intervention has played a crucial role in stabilizing the prices of various commodities. He noted that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has a vision to support both consumers and farmers.
