A total of 3.46 crore smart electricity meters have been installed across India under various initiatives, Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Of these, 2.27 crore meters have been installed under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), he stated in a written reply.
The RDSS, which aims to improve power distribution infrastructure, has a total outlay of Rs 3,03,758 crore, including Rs 97,631 crore in gross budgetary support from the central government. As of June 2025, 20.33 crore smart meters have been sanctioned under the scheme, with 2.27 crore already in place.
