Shri Manohar Lal, Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, launched Angikaar 2025, a last-mile outreach initiative under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban 2.0 (PMAY-U 2.0), in New Delhi on September 4, 2025. The event was attended by MoS Shri Tokhan Sahu, senior ministry officials, and mission directors.
The two-month campaign (Sept 4–Oct 31) will be rolled out across 5,000+ Urban Local Bodies to create awareness, fast-track verification of applications, and expedite completion of sanctioned houses. It will also highlight schemes like the Credit Risk Guarantee Fund Trust for Low Income Housing (CRGFTLIH) and PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, ensuring convergence with other welfare programmes.
So far, 120 lakh houses have been sanctioned under PMAY-U, of which 94.11 lakh have been completed. PMAY-U 2.0, launched in 2024, aims to provide financial support of up to Rs 2.5 lakh each to one crore additional urban families for building or purchasing pucca houses.
As part of the campaign, PMAY-U Awas Diwas will be observed on September 17, marking one year of PMAY-U 2.0. A flagship event, PM Awas Mela – Shehri, will be held at district and municipal levels in two phases (Sept 17–27 and Oct 16–31), featuring loan melas, camps, and cultural events to strengthen Jan Bhagidari and promote housing for all.
