Indian Railways Steps Up for Special Campaign 5.0 on Cleanliness, Pending Matters

Indian Railways has begun full-scale preparations for the Government of India’s Special Campaign 5.0, aimed at institutionalising cleanliness and clearing pending matters. The campaign, which began with a preparatory phase on September 15, will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025.

The Railway Board, under Chairman and CEO Shri Satish Kumar, is closely monitoring implementation across all zones, production units, PSUs, and training institutes. Over 150 nodal officers have been designated, and a dedicated WhatsApp group has been created for real-time coordination.

Detailed guidelines have been issued to 17 Zonal Railways, 70 Divisions, 10 PSUs, 9 Production Units, and 9 Central Training Institutes to ensure active participation. Key focus areas include clearing pending references, file reviews, scrap disposal, e-waste management, and intensified cleanliness drives.

The Ministry of Railways said it is committed to embedding cleanliness as an institutional practice and ensuring timely resolution of pending issues, making Special Campaign 5.0 a nationwide success across the railway network.
