TCS Hosts the World’s Largest AI Hackathon with 2.8 Lakh Participants

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a global leader in IT services, consulting, and business solutions, has successfully concluded the first edition of the tcsAI Hackathon 2025, marking a historic milestone as the world’s largest AI hackathon.

The global event witnessed participation from over 281,000 employees across 58 countries, showcasing the company’s deep commitment to fostering an AI-first culture. Anchored on 21 industry-relevant AI themes, the hackathon set new benchmarks in diversity—with 33% women participants, 53% local participation across global geographies, 36% mid-level and senior employees, 38% Gen Z professionals, and 29% non-technical participants.

The initiative forms part of TCS’ broader AI adoption program, tcsAI (read as “TCS to the power of AI”), which empowers employees with access to GenAI-powered platforms, tools, and environments to innovate and integrate AI seamlessly into their daily work.

The hackathon combined People, Platforms, and Partners to create a unique, gamified learning experience. Solutions from top hyperscalers, niche technology partners, and TCS’ own platforms—including TCS AI WisdomNext™—were integrated into the event. Participants accessed on-demand AI labs, in-person AI Friday sessions, and mentorship programs, creating one of the world’s largest “phygital” AI foundries.

Generative AI also played a key role in evaluating submissions, augmenting human judgment to enhance scalability and effectiveness.

Aarthi Subramanian, Executive Director, President & Chief Operating Officer, TCS, said:

“Attracting over 281,000 participants demonstrates how AI has inspired TCSers across the world. The hackathon was more than a competition—it was a collaborative effort to reimagine the future of work, democratize AI, and deliver impactful solutions for clients and communities.”

The tcsAI Hackathon 2025 will continue through weekly AI Fridays at major TCS campuses in India. Several TCS clients have expressed interest in exploring and integrating the solutions developed during the hackathon into their products and services.

With a workforce of over 590,000 employees across 55 countries, TCS continues to help global enterprises become adaptive and future-ready, leveraging technologies from mainframes to AI. Beyond technology, TCS also promotes health, sustainability, and community empowerment through sponsorships of leading global marathons, including the TCS New York City Marathon, TCS London Marathon, and TCS Sydney Marathon.
