United Breweries Limited (UBL), part of the HEINEKEN Company, on Wednesday announced the launch of Kingfisher Smooth, a strategic innovation that expands the Kingfisher portfolio in India’s mainstream strong beer segment. The new offering is aimed at younger legal-age consumers who prefer strong beers but seek a smoother and more approachable drinking experience.
Kingfisher Smooth has been launched in Rajasthan, one of India’s largest strong beer–consuming markets. Brewed using imported hops and with no added sugar, the beer is positioned as a more sessionable option, delivering a smooth and balanced taste while retaining the strength associated with the Kingfisher brand.
Commenting on the launch, Vivek Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of United Breweries Limited, said that Kingfisher has played a pioneering role in shaping India’s beer category and continues to attract young legal-age consumers to the segment. He added that Kingfisher Smooth represents a first-of-its-kind innovation in the mainstream strong beer space, backed by extensive research, design, and consumer testing, resulting in a superior brew and packaging aligned with next-generation preferences.

With drinking occasions diversifying, consumers are increasingly seeking smoother and more approachable strong beers without compromising on familiar taste. He noted that Kingfisher Smooth addresses this shift by offering a more balanced strong beer experience suited to contemporary consumption occasions.
While Kingfisher Strong remains the benchmark for a classic, full-bodied beer, Kingfisher Smooth broadens the flagship brand’s portfolio, reinforcing UBL’s focus on innovation and consumer centricity.
Kingfisher Smooth will be available at leading retail outlets across Rajasthan and is priced at INR 100 for a 330 ml bottle, INR 145 for a 500 ml can, and INR 185 for a 650 ml bottle.
