The third edition of the tri-services Future Warfare Course will begin at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi from February 2 to 25, 2026. The programme is being conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff in partnership with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS).
The latest edition features an enhanced curriculum focusing on specialised and domain-specific aspects of modern warfare. It aims to build a deeper understanding of how emerging technologies are reshaping combat strategies, doctrines, operational concepts and tactics. The course also includes practical demonstrations, interactions with experts and visits to key defence institutions.
Participants include officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force, along with representatives from the defence industry, startups, MSMEs, DPSUs and private firms. Officers ranging from Majors to Major Generals are attending, combining technical expertise with operational and strategic experience.
The initiative seeks to align the Armed Forces’ operational priorities with the capabilities of India’s indigenous defence industry while encouraging dialogue on future and hybrid warfare challenges. Experts such as veterans, diplomats, industry leaders and academics will contribute to discussions on critical issues including rare earth elements, supply chain risks and evolving geopolitical dynamics.
The expanded three-week programme builds on the success of earlier editions and supports the vision of Chief of the Defence Staff Anil Chauhan to prepare officers for the complexities of next-generation warfare.
