Rupee Slips 7 Paise to 90.96 Against US Dollar in Early Trade

The rupee depreciated by 7 paise to 90.96 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday, pressured by rising global crude oil prices and a strengthening greenback.

Weak domestic equity market performance further weighed on the local currency. However, foreign institutional investor (FII) inflows helped limit the downside, according to forex traders.

In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 90.91 per dollar and declined to 90.96 in early deals, marking a 7-paise drop from its previous close.
