The Indian rupee extended its gaining streak for a fifth consecutive session, appreciating 9 paise to settle at 95.67 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday.
The local currency was supported by positive domestic equity markets, continued foreign capital inflows, and a weaker US dollar. However, gains remained capped due to volatile crude oil prices amid renewed geopolitical tensions in West Asia.
At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 95.59 and traded in the 95.56–95.75 range before closing at 95.67, up 9 paise from the previous session.
