Sensex up 150 pts; RBI keeps repo rate unchanged

Domestic markets were firm in Thursday's intra-day, after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) kept repo rate unchanged at 6.5 per cent.



The domestic central bank kept real GDP growth unchanged at 6.5 per cent for fiscal year 2023-24 (FY24). Inflation projection, on the other hand, was lowered to 5.1 per cent in FY24 from 5.2 per cent.



At 10:38 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 63291.35 up by 148.39 points or by 0.24 % and then NSE Nifty was at 18769.1 up by 42.7 points or by 0.23 %.

Sensex touched intraday high of 63317.16 and intraday low of 63111.63 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 18775.6 and intraday low of 18723.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 183.60,+3.49%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 244.50,+2.19%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 2336.60,+0.92%), HDFC Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1621.50,+0.86%), Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. (Rs. 2672.05,+0.83%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1914.00,-1.25%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1389.90,-1.13%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1003.60,-1.05%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 22170.15,-0.94%), Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (Rs. 3246.30,-0.86%), among others.



Power index was at 3978.6 up by 70.91 points or by 1.81%. NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 183.60,+3.49%), Tata Power Company Ltd. (Rs. 225.35,+3.18%), Adani Power Ltd. (Rs. 282.20,+2.69%), NHPC Ltd. (Rs. 45.12,+2.66%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 244.50,+2.19%),.



Realty index was at 4035.65 down by -15.67 points or by -0.39%. Macrotech Developers Ltd. (Rs. 581.50,-1.97%), Brigade Enterprises Ltd. (Rs. 566.30,-1.14%), DLF Ltd. (Rs. 492.50,-0.71%), Godrej Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1438.40,-0.47%), Oberoi Realty Ltd. (Rs. 978.85,-0.13%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3502 , shares advanced were 2062 while 1276 shares declined and 164 were unchanged.
