Post-Session: Fresh record high for Nifty, Sensex up 493 pts

The Indian equity indices ended higher on Friday with the Nifty50 index soaring to a fresh all-time high on December 1 as the investors cheered the higher-than-expected GDP data and buying across the sectors, barring auto.



The benchmark indices extended the winning run on the fourth consecutive session as they opened on a strong note, with Nifty crossing its previous high of 20,222.45 touched on September 15, 2023.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 67481.19 up by 492.75 points or by 0.74 % and then NSE Nifty was at 20267.9 up by 134.75 points or by 0.67 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 67564.33 and intraday low of 67149.07 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 20291.55 and intraday low of 20183.7



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 449.90,+3.28%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 269.05,+2.97%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1103.80,+2.71%), Larsen & Toubro Ltd. (Rs. 3189.95,+2.52%), Bajaj Finance Ltd. (Rs. 7256.15,+1.84%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Wipro Ltd. (Rs. 407.70,-1.34%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1626.70,-1.27%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 10564.85,-0.37%), IndusInd Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1461.15,-0.35%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1217.10,-0.29%), among others.

PSU index was at 13719.71 up by 230.84 points or by 1.71%.

Auto index was at 39870.25 down by -182.72 points or by -0.46%. Ashok Leyland Ltd. (Rs. 176.35,-3.69%), UNO Minda Ltd. (Rs. 657.25,-2.51%), Tube Investments of India Ltd. (Rs. 3290.30,-2.31%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd. (Rs. 3758.55,-1.58%), Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 1626.70,-1.27%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4154 , shares advanced were 2293 while 1692 shares declined and 169 were unchanged.
