Sensex, Nifty in green; M&M, Eternal top gainers

Indian stock markets followed Asian lead to open higher on Friday, September 5. The markets also extended their gains into second day today, following a slew of announcements related to the rationalisation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) structure done by the GST Council on September 3.



At 9:30 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 80911.35 up by 193.34 points or by 0.24 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24791.8 up by 57.5 points or by 0.23 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 81036.56 and intraday low of 80857.35 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 24832.35 and intraday low of 24788.4



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3542.85,+1.80%), Eternal Ltd. (Rs. 330.75,+1.30%), Tata Motors Ltd. (Rs. 694.60,+1.03%), Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (Rs. 14781.00,+0.86%), Reliance Industries Ltd. (Rs. 1370.80,+0.85%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were ITC Ltd. (Rs. 407.00,-2.13%), Nestle India Ltd. (Rs. 1195.05,-1.44%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2650.30,-0.64%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 329.55,-0.20%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1403.00,-0.19%), among others.



Auto index was at 58757.51 up by 628 points or by 1.08%. Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (Rs. 3542.85,+1.80%), Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd. (Rs. 95.75,+1.46%), Exide Industries Ltd. (Rs. 411.00,+1.33%), Tube Investments of India Ltd. (Rs. 3032.80,+1.32%), Eicher Motors Ltd. (Rs. 6510.30,+1.32%),.



FMCG index was at 20758.28 down by -237.76 points or by -1.13%. Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd. (Rs. 1435.45,-2.68%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 407.00,-2.13%), Emami Ltd. (Rs. 603.75,-1.88%), Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd. (Rs. 2420.15,-1.86%), Varun Beverages Ltd. (Rs. 480.50,-1.83%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3215 , shares advanced were 1951 while 1112 shares declined and 152 were unchanged.
