Mid-Session: Sensex extend losses; NSE Nifty at 25298.2

Domestic bourses continued to hover in red during the noon trading session weighed down by selling in index heavyweights including Tata Steel Ltd.Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.Infosys Ltd.ICICI Bank Ltd. NTPC Ltd.among others.



At 12:50 hours, the 30-share benchmark index was trading at 82098.6 down by -467.77 points or by -0.57 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25298.2 down by -120.7 points or by -0.47 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 82282.39 and intraday low of 81941.03 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 25323.15 and intraday low of 25218.95



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were State Bank of India (Rs. 1075.75,+1.06%), ITC Ltd. (Rs. 321.50,+0.89%), Bharat Electronics Ltd. (Rs. 448.00,+0.79%), Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (Rs. 2369.75,+0.77%), Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 2434.90,+0.75%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 191.30,-5.46%), Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (Rs. 254.70,-2.25%), Infosys Ltd. (Rs. 1626.55,-1.88%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1359.20,-1.80%), NTPC Ltd. (Rs. 352.25,-1.63%), among others.



FMCG index was at 18642.9 up by 178.78 points or by 0.97%. Cupid Ltd. (Rs. 429.75,+10.12%), Kaveri Seed Company Ltd. (Rs. 937.10,+8.68%), Bajaj Consumer Care Ltd. (Rs. 338.70,+4.75%), Chaman Lal Setia Exports Ltd. (Rs. 244.60,+4.57%), Gillette India Ltd. (Rs. 8689.90,+4.55%),.



Metal index was at 38819.82 down by -2121.68 points or by -5.18%. Hindustan Zinc Ltd. (Rs. 644.50,-9.94%), National Aluminium Company Ltd. (Rs. 389.20,-9.27%), Vedanta Ltd. (Rs. 698.85,-8.78%), Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 961.95,-6.13%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 148.55,-5.53%),.



The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 4369 , shares advanced were 2343 while 1818 shares declined and 208 were unchanged.
