Indian benchmark indices, the Sensex and Nifty, are expected to open higher on March 5, supported by positive signals from GIFT Nifty, which was trading near 24,750 in early indications.
In the previous session on March 4, the benchmarks fell around 1.5% amid rising tensions between the United States and Iran, taking their cumulative decline to nearly 4% over the last three trading sessions.
On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 79116.19 down by -1122.66 points or by -1.4 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24480.5 down by -385.2 points or by -1.55 %.
On the global front, most markets in the Asia-Pacific rose in early trade on Thursday as sentiment improved after an overnight recovery in Wall Street indices. South Korea’s Kospi jumped over 12 per cent and recouped losses from the previous session. Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose over 4 per cent.
On Wednesday, the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.78 per cent and 0.49 per cent higher, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite ended 1.29 per cent higher.
