Pre-Session: Markets likely to open firm; Asia markets rise on US-Iran peace hope

Indian equity benchmarks, the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50, are expected to open on a positive note, supported by firm global cues. GIFT Nifty is indicating an upbeat start, trading higher around the 24,355 mark.



In the previous session, domestic markets witnessed a strong rebound, with Nifty closing comfortably above the 24,200 level. The rally was largely driven by easing geopolitical tensions, as optimism around renewed US-Iran peace talks led to a sharp correction in crude oil prices, boosting investor sentiment.



On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 78111.24 up by 1263.67 points or by 1.64 % and then NSE Nifty was at 24231.3 up by 388.65 points or by 1.63 %.



On the global front, Overnight, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite hit record highs, as strong performance from the Bank of America and Morgan Stanley supported gains. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq Composite ended 0.8 per cent and 1.6 per cent higher, respectively.

Bucking the trend, the Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.15 per cent lower.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 117749 with a total turnover of Rs. 19016.15 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1371950 with a total turnover of Rs. 90193.97 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 40239527 with a total turnover of Rs. 6355132.10 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 6869969 with a total turnover of Rs. 460099.68 Crore.



The FIIs on 15/04/2026 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 15738.91 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 448.99 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 17174.35 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1258.52 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -1435.44 Crore and Rs. -809.53
