Post-Session: Sensex zooms 887 points; all eyes on RBI policy outcome

Indian equity benchmarks snapped a two-day losing streak to jump over a percent on December 7 on positive global cues and buying in financial names on the eve of Reserve Bank of India’s monetary policy outcome.



The 30-share benchmark index ended at 57633.65 up by 886.51 points or by 1.56 % and then NSE Nifty was at 17176.7 up by 264.45 points or by 1.56 %.



Sensex touched intraday high of 57905.63 and intraday low of 56992.27 The NSE Nifty touched intraday high of 17251.65 and intraday low of 16987.75.



The top gainers of the BSE Sensex pack were Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1149.35,+3.63%), Axis Bank Ltd. (Rs. 687.20,+3.60%), ICICI Bank Ltd. (Rs. 734.65,+3.46%), Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (Rs. 1938.00,+2.74%), State Bank of India (Rs. 476.65,+2.43%), among others.



The top losers of the BSE Sensex pack were Asian Paints Ltd. (Rs. 3031.30,-0.22%), among others.



Metal index was at 19261.17 up by 597.36 points or by 3.2%. Hindalco Industries Ltd. (Rs. 442.55,+5.03%), Steel Authority of India (SAIL) Ltd. (Rs. 107.75,+4.71%), Tata Steel Ltd. (Rs. 1149.35,+3.63%), Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (Rs. 368.00,+3.15%), JSW Steel Ltd. (Rs. 660.60,+2.78%),.

The Market breadth, indicating the overall strength of the market, was weak. On BSE out of total shares traded 3677 , shares advanced were 2470 while 1057 shares declined and 150 were unchanged.
