Indian equity benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, are set to open on a positive note, tracking strong gains in global markets. As of 8:00 AM, GIFT Nifty futures were trading 227.5 points higher at 25,983.5, indicating a firm start for domestic equities. Investor sentiment will be guided by Q2 earnings from major heavyweights including Reliance Industries, HDFC Bank, and ICICI Bank. On Friday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 83952.19 up by 484.53 points or by 0.58 % and then NSE Nifty was at 25709.85 up by 124.55 points or by 0.49 %. On the global front, Asian markets saw a positive start on Monday, with attention turning to a series of key economic reports expected from China. Last checked, Japan's Nikkei 225 index was 2.5 per cent up, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 2.1 per cent, while South Korea's KOSPI index rose 0.53 per cent. US stocks ended higher on Friday, with all three major indexes posting weekly gains as investors brushed aside worries over credit losses at regional banks and ongoing trade tensions. The S&P 500 gained 0.53 per cent, the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite settled 0.52 per cent higher, and the Dow Jones fell 0.52 per cent. Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Eternal Ltd. 77995576.00, Wipro Ltd. 43802251.00, HDFC Bank Ltd. 25210511.00, Tata Steel Ltd. 21659007.00, ITC Ltd. 21071344.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 405.33 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 111763.18 Crore. On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 173176 with a total turnover of Rs. 33774.34 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1639057 with a total turnover of Rs. 116636.93 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 163101251 with a total turnover of Rs. 31496122.33 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 9387653 with a total turnover of Rs. 691468.36 Crore. The FIIs on 17/10/2025 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 15952.89 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 1682.81 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 13800.56 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 25.82 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 2152.33 Crore and Rs. 1656.99
