Indian benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty 50 are likely to open higher on February 12, tracking cues from GIFT Nifty trading around 23,181, a short while ago this morning.

India's benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, closed 1.3 percent lower on February 11, mirroring weakness in global equities as fresh tariff developments fueled caution among investors. Market participants are also closely watching Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s testimony and key US inflation data for further cues.

On Tuesday, the 30-share benchmark index ended at 76293.6 down by -1018.2 points or by -1.32 % and then NSE Nifty was at 23071.8 down by -309.8 points or by -1.32 %.

On the global front, Asia-Pacific markets opened mixed Wednesday after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell signaled there was no urgency to cut rates.

Wall Street's main indexes ended mixed on Tuesday as gains in Coca-Cola and Apple offset losses in Tesla, while investors parsed Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell's latest comments.

The S&P 500 climbed 0.03% to end the session at 6,068.50 points.

The Nasdaq declined 0.36% to 19,643.86 points, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28% to 44,593.65 points. Back home, Top traded Volumes on NSE Nifty – Bharat Electronics Ltd. 23839025.00, Tata Steel Ltd. 23635428.00, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. 22083955.00, ITC Ltd. 14288751.00, NTPC Ltd. 13241830.00, On NSE, total number of shares traded was 276.67 Crore and total turnover stood at Rs. 87197.43 Crore.

On NSE Future and Options, total number of contracts traded in index futures was 184666 with a total turnover of Rs. 29966.70 Crore. Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 1443652 with a total turnover of Rs. 86898.61 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 76677103 with a total turnover of Rs. 13242961.38 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 7500205 with a total turnover of Rs. 474131.19 Crore.

The FIIs on 11/02/2025 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 10173.42 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 2.10 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 12470.54 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 1370.27 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. -2297.12 Crore and Rs. -1368.17
